Event Details

Former frontman for such legendary bands as Minor Threat and Fugazi, Ian MacKaye will be in Memphis on Thursday, September 16, for an open-ended conversation about his career approach to the DIY mentality. In addition to his role in trailblazing the punk DIY approach through his years as a lead singer and guitarist, MacKaye can also speak from his experience as a founder and owner of Dischord Records. The forum will be held in an informal question and answer format, so bring your best questions about how to succeed as an independent artist in today's music world.

The Backstage Pass event will be held at the Brooks Museum of Art, located in midtown at Overton Park off Poplar Avenue. The conversation will begin at 7 p.m. sharp and lasts until 9 p.m. Admission is free to the first 40 Memphis Music Foundation members to RSVP, and $5 for anyone else thereafter and the general public. Sign up as soon as you can and we'll look forward to seeing you there.
